THE WEEK AHEAD - MONDAY 9 DECEMBER 2024- SUNDAY 15 DECEMBER

This Friday, Council will go on Recess until the end of January, but at the Office of the Executive Mayor we are working full steam ahead.

Mayoral Art Gallery post-event stock take and strategy session

On Monday 9 December 2024, I will meet with Principal Administrator in my Office Willie Conradie , my Secretary Sarine van Niekerk and my Communications Officer Aydn Parrott to do a post-event analysis of the launch of the Mayoral Art Gallery held on Friday, 29 November 2024. 

We will look at the successes and shortcomings of the event and discuss how we will continue to promote local art through the gallery.

Engaging with local residents

I will also host a resident for a morning coffee in my office and have further engagements with members of Council about new ward demarcations, as well as engagements with Transnet National Port Authority, Mossel Bay Golf Club and met with a local resident.

 

16 Days of Activism closing event

The SALGA Western Cape Women’s Commission Chairperson and Ward 4 Councillor Annie van Rensburg has invited me to attend the closing event of the 16 Days of Activism campaign hosted in partnership partnership with the Mossel Bay Municipality’s Directorate of Community Services. 

This will take place on Tuesday, 10 December 2024 when Council will also sit for a Special Council Meeting, and I will then have engagements with a local church and our environmental teams.

Haven Night Shelter Fundraiser dinner

On the evening of Tuesday, 10 December 2024, the Haven Night Shelter will host a fundraising dinner at the Fork & Train Restaurant.

Meeting with an author who inspires.

On Thursday 12 December 2024, I will meet with author and motivation speaker Johannes Wolfaardt and later that day will do an oversight visit to the Pinnacle Point Wastewater Treatment works site.

Western Cape Government Energy Council Meeting

On Friday 13 December 2024, I look forward to sitting in on another session of the Western Cape Government’s Energy Council Meeting chaired by Western Cape Premier Alan Winde

Marulyn Kannemeyer Christmas Lunch

I look forward to yet again, attending one of Councillor Marulyn Kannemeyer’s well-known Christmas lunches at her home in Tarka.

An event for local elderly residents, held annually in December, I am excited for the lunch this Friday, 13 December 2024.

Carols by Candelight

Great Brak River will host a Carols by Candlelight event on the Markplein opposite the Pick ‘n Pay in GREAT Brak River on Sunday, 15 December from 15h30.

CarpéMusicam Concert

The CarpéMusicam Concert returns to Mossel Bay Town Hall on Sunday, 15 December, from 18h00.

Great Brak River Lights & Lanterns

Great Brak River will also host their iconic Lights & Lanterns event opposite the Great Brak River police station from 19:30 on Sunday , 15 December 2024.
